Black Friday falls on 29 November this year, just four weeks away, and online and bricks-and-mortar retailers are moving towards final preparations for the discount bonanza.

Several major retailers have started Black Friday newsletters, and in return for signing up you'llget sneak peeks at their discounts and access to exclusive deals. Some will even give you vouchers.

Here are the retailers that have confirmed they will be participating in Black Friday 2019 – and here’s what we know so far about their deals:

Shoprite and Checkers*

1,000 Shoprite, Checkers, and Checkers Hyper stores across South Africa are gearing up for their 6th Black Friday sales bonanza.

The Shoprite Group has given us hints that there’ll be massive discounts on grocery and household essentials, which are always popular.

Those looking to get ahead of the pack should sign up to Checkers' newly re-launched Xtra Savings rewards programme. A spokesperson said members will be first to receive advance notifications of Black Friday deals on offer at Checkers stores.

Xtra Savings members also stand a chance to win their Black Friday shopping for free, when swiping their cards at the till.

"One Xtra Savings member in every Checkers, Checkers Hyper and Checkers LiquorShop - that's more than 450 stores - will win their Black Friday shopping for free, up to the value of R1,000," said a spokesperson.
